Sick mama, sick fur-babies...

sick kitty 2

Howdy All…

I’d love to be able to tell you all is right in the world in Zoe-Land, but alas, it is not.

I was taken down by a terrible stomach/intestinal flu for the last few days. Today is the first day I have felt remotely like myself. It was horrible though. Absolutely horrible.

On top of that, three out of six of my kitty cats are sick with upper-respiratory infections. Quinn and Baxter are doing alright, but Spencer, my baby, isn’t doing that great. He had a trip to the vet yesterday for some steroids, antibiotics, eye drops and a ‘Camel Hump’ (IV solution placed sub dermally at between the shoulder and neck area to keep the baby hydrated). He is not eating, drinking or using the litter.

Today I found the poor little man laboring by breathing out of his mouth and drooling horribly, so back to the vet he went. Thankfully, it’s nothing as alarming as my heart and head seemed to make it. He has developed a sore in his mouth, hence the drooling, and he simply can’t breathe from his little nose being stopped up, so that’s why he is breathing through his mouth. The vet said to continue with the daily anti-biotic, try to temp him to eat some soft food or tuna that has been heated in the microwave just enough to make it stinky (if a cat can’t smell it, they won’t eat it) and keep watch over him.

Jeffrey has the sneezes, but he also has allergies, so that may be his reason for sneezing. He isn’t showing any other signs of being sick. He is grumpier than usual though. Sid and Seifer are just fine, however. We are attributing their good health to the fact that they are used to being outdoors, and have heartier immune systems.

Yesterday marked the midway point for NaNoWriMo. I am working really well on my writing, my word count grows every day. I will surpass the 50k mark well before the 30th.

On a more depressing note, as a Municipal Liaison, attendance at the libraries this year is nearly none existent. In the whole month, I have had one participant show for an event. I did note, however, that participation in my entire region is way down from previous years. People who have not participated in the group Write-Ins, but still wrote from home or work, updating their word counts, are not even participating in writing at all this year. Donations are way down. I had a long talk with the library director this evening about it, and he said numbers for their events are way down as well.

I have to mention here, that working with both the director and event planner here at the county libraries (this county has like 5 libraries) has been wonderful. These guys are so accommodating. They have helped me since day one of being a Municipal Liaison 3 years ago.

We are sort of chalking up everything to being ‘2017, the bad year for everything possible’.

Gaming news…there really isn’t any. I have been avoiding my game for the most part because I tend to lose too much focus on NaNoWriMo when I try to do both, as they are both writing based. My little character is slumbering with her hubby, being quiet for once.

Well, that’s our little game of catch up for now. I’ll try not to take so long before my next post, and will keep updates on Spencer.

Be sweet, my lovelies ~

Who’s on my Bookcase: Mira Grant

Seanan-McGuire-crop-credit-Carolyn-Billingsley
Seanan McGuire, AKA Mira Grant; photo by Carol Billingsley

Mira Grant is the pen name for Seanan McGuire. Using both names, she had produced some of the most wonderful books.

Today, we will look at her work under the Mira Grant pen name.

My first experience was at the insistence of a friend of what a good zombie book ‘Feed’ was. I, however, couldn’t sit and read through it due to some of the politics in the book. My brain just couldn’t wrap around it.

I put it down and came back to it at a later day, and BOOM! I was hooked. By that time, the second book in the trilogy was out, ‘Deadline’, so my ravenous eyes devoured that book as well.

Then came the patient wait for ‘Blackout’, the book to close it all together.

Mind you, Ms. Grant is also a pro at the short story/novella style of writing as well. To go along with the Feed trilogy, she also put out the following novellas:
  • Please Do Not Taunt The Octopus
  • The Day The Dead Came To Show And Tell
  • How Green This Land, How Blue This Sea
  • The Last Stand Of The California Browncoats
  • Countdown
  • Apocalypse Scenario #683: The Box

Now, mind you, all these little novellas fall into the Feed universe, so they may intertwine, loop and reveal some details here and there.
This woman has a very unique take on the zombie apocalypse and how it would start. That’s what I love about it…it has an actual, really in-depth reason for the whole ‘dead munching on the living’ scenario. This woman does her homework.

Next comes the Parasite trilogy. Parasite, Symbiont and Chimera. I have made my way through Parasite so far, and love it. I haven’t finished the trilogy yet, but based on the first book, hot damn.

And finally, Mira Grant has a new book out. ‘Into the Drowning Deep’. I really want to get through the Parasite trilogy before I dive into her newest.

Grant_IntoDrowningDeep-HC

Mira Grant is one of those writers that knows how to hook you with a unique prospective on old topics. She managed to meld zombies, politics and a peak into the future so superbly.

Sadly, I have not read any of the books written under her true name, Seanan McGuire. My best friend has read them and loves them. It’s a huge collection of books, however, and I need more time to work on one name at a time.

I highly recommend the ‘Feed’ trilogy and all the novellas that go with it.

Five huge stars!!!

Happy reading, my darlings!

When things just don't go right...

tumblr_inline_ncwirn6Lr91sulaml

So the past few days have been a little annoying for me. Things just don’t seem to be lining up right and running smoothly.

My fancy Antique typewriter? Well, I had many a plan for writing fun with it. So, the significant other and myself sat down yesterday morning to clean it up and replace the tape.  Only, said significant other is the type who needs to know all about the inner workings of things. He broke something. The typewriter is now useless unless I can find someone local who can work on a vintage typewriter. I think I found someone, I mean, he advertises typewriter repair…but what is on his web-page a newer examples. We shall see come Monday. Until then, I have been kind of giving Mr I Have To Know What This Little Piece Of Metal Does is getting the silent treatment.

My NaNoWriMo projects. This year, I am feeling overwhelmed. Nothing has changed since last year, I just feel stressed for some reason. I am also torn between plotting and pantsing. I mean, I have 15 stories and outlines on my external drive to choose from, but do I want to go that route, or do I want to sit down on November 1st and just start typing with abandon?

Online gaming. My character and her husband have been planning a special celebration. It is being done in both the role play writing forum and in a live Discord channel chat this evening. I have had the role play writing thread started like two weeks ago, and there are only 4 participants out of 16. Its aggravating. Now, some people in are group just don’t have time to sit down and write a long form role play segment. However, I have given ample time to just make a single post of their character interacting. Tonight, we will see how the live event goes. I will be disappointed, and I’ll admit, pretty hurt, if people don’t come and play it out, seeing as they gather for nearly every other event, especially in Discord, where we can have music and live talk rather than just typing. We shall see.

We are actually getting cooler weather here in the south. I admit, I am torn. I miss my heat, however, the cooler temperatures are nice. Especially at night because all the cats want to cuddle with me in bed. The downfall of the cooler temperatures is the bugs. Most bugs go die or hibernate or whatever…except roaches. I am getting crazy amounts of roaches and water-bugs coming into the house. Now, its not uncommon for them to get in in the summer due to the cow field and crops on this little back road. But, I am getting a lot more than usual. The moment you open the door they fly in. And spiders…a lot more spiders. Thanks to the cats, we aren’t having any problems with field mice…yet. An assortment of wild critters have been trying to get into the garbage can lately, like possums and raccoons, but that’s pretty normal. The coyote packs are bigger this year, and making all kinds of racket in the back at the treeline at night. All that I can deal with…except the bugs. Ew.

I have a feral mama cat and a single kitten that I have been feeding. I place food on both the front and back porch every evening for them when I bring my rowdy bunch in. I know where the mama cat is keeping herself and the kitten during the day, and for hiding, but I would like to bring them into a safer area, closer to the house, with better conditions. I plan on having the two men in this house build the kittehs a shelter big enough for both mama and baby, blankets and to keep food and water inside for them. Its just a matter of getting the men-folk to get off their butts and doing it.

Well, I suppose I have whined enough for now. My next post will be a review of a show or two I’ve managed to sit down and watch. Currently I am watching the second season of Stranger Things. Love that show.

Be sweet, my darlings!

Tats, Good Friends and Writing

20171022_085206

So, above you can see my two latest tattoos. I call them my zombknee’s. Mind you, they are still in their icky stage, right before the peel. Today, all I can say is ‘itch, itch, itch’ and ‘moisturize, moisturize, moisturize’. They itch so badly. And I had to wear pants today instead of my usual shorts because I had to adult.

However, when adulting, someone needs to speak up and remind me that that doesn’t mean I can get away with wearing a white shirt. Yes, said shirt now has a food stain on it. ~facepalms~ What makes it so irritating is that it was my final bite…right before I put my left overs in the to-go boxes. ~cries~

Said food stain came from an awesome afternoon with a wonderful friend. I had met her online years ago on the NaNoWriMo website Regional Forums. We didn’t meet face to face until the next year when I volunteered to be a Municipal Liaison. Since then, we have met, had Write-Ins and enjoy nice little sneak away lunches just the two of us.

We usually indulge in an Indian food place down in Dothan. I don’t think anyone else in my house enjoys it, so it works for me for getting a little variety. Today I actually tried a different appetizer and entrée. Go me for trying new things!!

Today I tried the vegetable fritters with two different chutney sauces, and my entrée was Butter Chicken. I usually have Samosas and Beef Biryani. I was pleasantly surprised with my choice. And my friend really helped me a lot, because decisions are not an easy thing for me when trying new things. She knows what is what, how spicy I should go, and explained what true Indian curry was. It was great. And we had great conversation. Always a good time with her, and hopefully she will be able to get back to her writing for NaNoWriMo. We both have been feeling the lulls in our work.

I am undecided on what I am working on for NaNoWriMo this year. When updating my novel page on the website, I placed up a book series I have in my head. Its erotica. Now, however, I am leaning toward a short story compilation of brand new stories. I love doing compilations. My only issue is sometimes I get sidetracked and my theme goes off the rails. I want to do a horror/thriller compilation. I have a ton of good ideas for that in my head, and it may be easier for me to focus on several smaller chunk stories than working on what will become a series of books.

Decisions, decisions.

Well, that’s all for now, darlings…be sweet!

Shopping at 4AM...

01_really_need_clean_shopping_cart_Minerva-Studio
Unless it is online, I hate shopping. I really so. So many people, chaos, crowds, crying kids. Blech.

So, this morning since I couldn’t sleep, I decided to hit up the 24 hour Wal-Mart Super Center.

Ah, it was nice. No one but workers, the only very minor inconvenience was having to dance around where they were shining the floors or heavily restocking isles.

It was wonderful. I took my time, bought things I didn’t need. (Come on, everyone needs a fake skull and full mini skeleton to decorate their desk!) I bought needed things, like cat litter! Candles…unf…I bought candles.

I also bought adulting type things. New burner plates and covers for the stove. Slippers to keep my feets toasty warm. Its been getting a bit chilly here, at least to me.

And on the way home from it all, I stopped and bought myself breakfast. A pumpkin latte and a sausage biscuit with hash brown. Yum, though the hashbrown had been sitting under the heating lamps too long. Crispy.

yesterday was not a good day, hence no post. I was very anger filled and I avoid posting on those times due to ranting. You have to choose your words carefully, because to me, one persons rants can have triggers for other people reading. So, I played it safe.

Still havent gotten my tats pictured yet. I will get my kiddo to do that for me today. They are still in an ugly state due to the peeling process settling in. They are mega awesome though!!

So, ta for now, my sweets!

Back, Tatted, and ready for Wrimo

open journals
So, I got my two tattoos and they look awesome! I wont be posting up pictures until they are healed because right now in the healing stage, especially where they are, they are kind of goopy looking. All part of the healing process. I love them, however.

I’ve taken the last days resting. I had my back injection and feel so much better. When I was finally able to take the bandages off and shower, it was pure bliss. You really miss bending over to scrub down to clean your little feet when bending over kills you. And no more precariously leaning against the wall of the shower stall to clean the feetses. I was always afraid of falling through the glass door. >.<

NaNoWriMo is almost upon us and I am working my little teal haired head off to figure out some fun things for my Regional Participants. I am thinking coffee days at the local shop, all drinks my treat. And then there are the regular days of Write Ins at the library. I usually provide snacks and water for those, and the library offers fresh coffee.

I usually have a prize pack for the local with the highest word count at the end of NaNo, but sadly, this year I just can’t afford it.

As for what I am doing to entertain myself other than prepping for NaNo, I have taken some time to watch the SAW movies. I have only ever seen the first and second one, so now I am finishing off the series of them. I tend to avoid movies with 2 or more sequels, because so much is lost or sullied. But, I will give this a shot. I’ll do a review when done!

So for now, be sweet, my darlings!!

A day late… and a few days off…

2017-04-09 16.05.51

Howdy!
Sorry I missed you all yesterday. Still had problems with the AC and could not stand it in here…being THAT hot in my own home makes me irritable. So I went to one of my favorite places, and that is the tattoo shop. Which, happened to be a good thing. I found out they are having a special of 25% all Halloween or horror related tattoos. So…guess who is getting two tattoos done on Wednesday. That’s right, this girl.
The AC was fixed before I got home, and I pretty much just took a pain pill and went to bed. It wasn’t a restful night, however. I was up and down at all hours, my back hurting and not being able to get comfortable.
So today has been alright. I am worried about the amount of pain pills I am taking, so I am trudging through it. The injections will be done on Tuesday, usually done in the early morning, so I don’t think I will die from the pain between now and then. I’m just cranky and can’t do anything. I am going to attempt to get my own laundry done tonight, and get the rest of the family to pitch in on the rest of the house. I really would like one of these knuckle heads to steam clean my office carpet.
Also, I will be taking a few days off from the blog. I will be back to posting on Wednesday, Thursday at the latest. I want you to see my new tats, after all.
All my cats are doing well. BaxterMarie has been extra clingy and acting very kitten-like lately. She sleeps in front of me on the desk, or on me or at my feet in bed. She and Spencer fight for the little cubby to the right of me.
The rest of the cats come to me when they want extra momma lovin’s. They aren’t so demanding of it.

A Bad Day...

skull_kitty_classic_round_sticker-rcf19db4c8de4420e92afb11f506e76ed_v9i1a_1024

Well, this will be a short post. Just an update on my dreadful day.
We started with excruciating pain in the damaged nerves of my lower spine. It was like someone was plucking each one of them, and it reverberated all the way up my spine and down my left leg. It caused a jerking action, like I was having a seizure. I took my hydrocodone and my anti-inflamitories and relaxers. No relief. And I didn’t want to over medicate myself, because I am still fighting a cold.
So I tried to sleep through it.
Late morning everyone, including myself, gets up because it’s blazingly hot in the house. The thermostat was set at 65, the temp was 90, and it was 97 outside. My house turned into a sauna. So we get the heating/cooling people out. He does a quick fix to get us through the night, but has to come back in the morning to replace 2 parts.
So…that was my day.
And it is 9:30 and I’ve had no dinner yet…add to cranky factor.

I hope you all had a much better day than myself, and here to tomorrow being better!
Be sweet, my darlings!

Even the uneventful can be funny…

zombie-hand-other

So, last night, in my gaming world, we were about to go kill this character who attacked the head of our family. This game is based on big Families and Clans. But, while waiting for the call to arms, my character, and her boyfriend, were just sitting together outside of the place were people get married or adopt others. We had been there because we attended several ceremonies in the family of the last few days.

So, while everyone was preparing weapons and locating the target, his character tied up mine and hefted her over his shoulders, walked into the place, and they got married. No one was the wiser until nearly 24 hours later…when the enemies newpaper announced the binding.

Oh, our family was shocked. They has been fighting along side of us all night and hadnt noticed. We never gave any hints that we were planning to wed any time soon to begin with. We just upped the timing. It was perfect.

So, when our family found out through a third party source…an enemies at that…oh, that was a hoot. I simply told them all thats what happens when two spies get together…we do stealthy things.

So that was entertaining. We killed the target, though he is trying to make a comeback tonight, so we are watching him to thwart him.

I play this game with a great group of people. My best friend being one of them. Her character is married to the head of the family. Its highly entertaining.

So, I am sorry to have such a short posting for you today, but I am tired, my back hurts, and I am still getting scornful mail for not sharing the wedding with everyone to attend…lol.

My back is killing me. I called and am scheduled to have a series of injections on the 17th, and I will be talking to my doc about fixing the herniated discs in my lower spine…my thought is that it might alleviate some of the pressure on my nerves.

Lets hope.

Being an instant Meemaw

My daughter, Kate, is in a relationship with a wonderful guy named Terry. With Terry comes his daughter. She is the most precious thing. She has started calling me Meemaw lately. (Southern style of Grandma)

20171009_160122

Meet Lyndsie (Hair cut was done by another little girl, however, Lyndsie has been known to chop her own hair at times, too. This time…not her fault.)

This kid is bright and inquisitive. Talks A LOT. It makes me remember when Kate was that age. She never shut up. Even in her sleep.

Now, anyone who knows me, knows I am not a huge kid fan. Kids are messy, erratic, noisy, smelly…I did great raising my own brat, but I seem to not be able to tolerate other peoples kids. I never babysat, even in my teens.

With Lyndsie, it’s different. She seems she was just made to be near me. I rarely have to tell her to behave, she listens well, and she seems to really love the attention I give her. She and I do projects alone here in my office. We close the door so everyone knows not to disturb. Last night and today, since it rainy and windy and ugly, we had the emergency light sitting on the floor between us, and as I read, I gave her all my photos that I hadn’t put into albums yet and allowed her to do that. She was also allowed to keep one of the double prints, and since most of the pictures were of all six of my cats, and I usually always order double prints; she was thrilled.

She got the entire task done, and a hefty boot of pictures for herself. So, for doing that little chore, I gave her some stickers, and a promise that my next trip to Wal-Mart I will get her her very own photo album for all her photos.

As a little surprise to her, I am also going to order her some custom stickers from Shutterfly. There is also a particular picture of her and some of the cats that she loves, and since she is always playing with one of my magnets, I am going to make that picture a magnet for her.

She minds me so well. Very rarely do I have to bring out the mean Meemaw Laws.

Here at my house she has her very own room. I placed pictures on her walls of the cats, and some cute posters. She has her dressers, and she has her toys. Her own bed. The cats like sleeping in her room, too, which tickles her to death. Some sleep with her, others sleep in her window sill. It’s just the fact that they hang out with her. I tell her they are guarding over her.

There will be a custody battle, I know that for a fact. She is better off here, I have to be honest. We have so much more to offer, plus, the people that do come here, well…they are good people. She is exposed to an unsavory sort within her mother’s care.

But, I won’t get into all that. I tends to make me very hot tempered, and I don’t want to rant. Not after such a nice time with my granddaughter.

My daughter seems to be a natural at being a mother, as well. She never wanted children, the not getting pregnant and giving birth part, so this seems to be the perfect instant family for her. And Terry is snipped, so there will be no accidents. They are all so perfect.

They actually take Lyndsie out into the world to discover things. The park, the petting zoo, the library. They do activities not centered at the house. However, they do sit down with their own store bought books to help her along in reading and writing. Just to give her a little edge up on her own school pace. And Terry is from German. He didn’t come to America until his teens and he joined the Army. He has a rich German background. So, and I pushed for this, they are teaching Lyndsie German as well. My daughter is learning, too. Lyndsies mother, while she and Terry were together, forbid him to teach the child German, ignoring the fact that being bilingual was a great advantage in life, and said that they would just talk about her behind her back and she wouldn’t know it. Petty, very petty.

Anyway. When we are allowed to have Lyndsie, it’s always a great weekend.

I am finding I really like this whole Meemaw side of me. Now, don’t think of me as all traditional…I don’t bake cookies and cakes. But we do talk about zombies and vampires and killer My Little Ponies. She loves my office for my variety of knick knacks and odd toys. She likes looking at my Living Dead Dolls, and cool movie posters and action figures. I get to teach her things that will bring out an appreciation of literature and writing. She has a great imagination, so we do verbal story telling together. She asks about some of the pictures on my wall. We have long discussions on some of the tamer stories of Edgar Allen Poe.

She and I also share a fondness for the relaxing color books. I buy her regular ones, with characters she loves, and I get myself the relaxation books. We sit and color together. I sometimes make us popcorn to share, or a small bowl of ice cream.

I do not watch movies with her, however. That kid can watch the same movie 6 times in a row. I get the songs stuck in my head, and that’s just a little too much happiness for me to handle…lol.

Well, this is just something I wanted to share. A little brightness in my world.

Be sweet, my darlings!

Tropical Storms…yay…

11870936_1051237054900441_2882242274011882895_n

So, I am getting all the harsh easterly side of Tropic Storm Nate, down along south east Alabama. I am getting this short post in before the next tide of raging wind and rain comes in and kills my power…again.

So far, nothing has been too damaging. A lot of wind, but nothing has blown out of my yard. The scary part is when the winds stop for a while. That’s a good time for this muggy weather and storm clouds to churn up tornadoes.

So, I’ve been on my kindle and tablet doing things here and there. Mostly reading, and keeping them charged.

Today is excellent nap weather!

To all of you in my same area, or about to get these winds and rains…best of luck to you!

What's on my DVD Shelves: Pacific Rim

pacific rim

I absolutely love this movie. I am not a big sci-fi fan, but this movie was awesome. Big robots, big monsters, lots of screaming. Some great acting. It had a bit of everything. Thrills, screams, and a bit of humor.

I was not a fan of Charlie Hunnam before this movie. And, as he did such a good job, I started watching Sons of Anarchy…it just didn’t hold my attention.

I love Ron Pearlman, in most anything he does. He was my little teen hero in the TV series Beauty and the Beast. He was my comic hero in Hellboy. He just seems to put a lot of himself into whatever character he is playing.

And let’s not forget about Idris Elba. Oh, older lady swoon for that man.

Now, I have always been a big robot fan, having grown up with both the comic and TV series of Transformers. I even have the Decepticon and Autobot logos on my left hand. And I will be spot lighting those movies as well at a later date.

Pacific Rim is about to have a sequel. I am not a big fan of sequels…too many thing seem to be forgotten, or…well…I don’t know. They just don’t live up to the original movies ‘wow’ factor. Especially with an all new cast and whatnot.

Some movies don’t need a sequel. It should be left well enough alone. Others need a sequel to tidy up loose ends.

The special effects to Pacific Rim were above par. So many details were included in movement of both the monsters and robots. Thumbs up for realistic things like the quiver of blubber on a monster, or the pinions of a foot and leg rocking in a robot.

Director Guillermo del Toro usually never lets me down.

This was a great movie to sit down and watch. I was pleasantly surprised at the acting, directing and special effects. If you haven’t seen it, I do highly recommend it!

What's on my bookcase: Stephen Knight

61BV4Eppf7L._UX250_

Stephen Knight is one of those authors I just happened to stumble over…and it was instant love. I read one of his books on my best friends Kindle and fell in love.

I had to have the book. I tootle on over to his page and BAM! He has a whole series!!! I had to have them all. He actually has two different series, but, me being me, stuck to the zombie series.

What makes Stephens Knight’s zombies in the Gathering Dead series so great, is that some are slow, some are fast…and some remember. That’s right! They have memories of people, loved ones, how to do things like drive (badly) and use weapons.

I was floored by this. And of course, you are going to fall in love with a character only to watch them go out blazing. Or whimpering.

The Last Town was just a series of novellas, but I know see they have been condensed into one book. The Gathering Dead and The Rising Horde, as well as Left with the Dead have also been condensed into an omnibus.

If you love zombie tales, that have a very good grounding in a reality type world, these are the books for you. Great characters and plots. Even those you are meant to hate are written to perfection.

I don’t know what his other series is about, just from titles and cover art, they seem more sci-fi. Not quite my bag.

Another thing that is so great about these books, especially with them being zombie books, is they touch you as a human. It’s not all about zombies, nom, nom, nom, shoot, shoot, shoot. No, these books touch deeper into the lives of the people trying to survive. It nearly had me in tears several times, and that is a pretty heard feat to accomplish.

So, as the weather gets a little cooler, and you want to snuggle up with some good reading material, zombies and people, this is a good series. 10/10 on my scale. Great for reading through October.

I hope you check these books out, and if so, enjoy them as much as I have. I am waiting for more, as the end seeeeemed to be left open for a continuation. But Mr Knight is involved in several other projects, so that remains to be seen.

Happy reading!

Be sweet, my darlings!

There are SO many others. Angells Book Reviews and Courtney Wendeltons. And this doesn’t even cover many of the Blogger blogs I follow.

I am also honored that many of these bloggers follow my blog as well. Before my hiatus, I had called for people who would like to be interviewed and have their books or blog highlighted here, and a few stepped forward. There are still a few I am trying to get in touch with. Those interviews will be coming soon. I have so many questions I want to ask, I have to scale down my questionnaire a bit…lol.

Do you have a favored author or blogger that you follow? Want to share them here in the comments? I will gladly give them a look and see if they would like to be spotlighted here. Do you wish to be spotlighted? As I have said before, it’s for books, authors, bloggers…cat lovers, coffee enthusiasts…lol.

I would love to get as many as possible, covering all walks of life. I want to build brigdes and watch my favorite people mix and meet, but I dont want to do the traditions mix and meets that most other blogs do. I always have to do things the hardway, and, well, the oddball way. ..lol.
So dont be shy and step right up!

Be sweet!

Awake In the sleeping world

It is not out of the ordinary to be awake when everyone I know is sleeping soundly, as they should be.

Tonight, however, my back pain is not giving me that pleasure. And it’s not just my back, it goes down to my left leg, leaving it useless. I can only lift that leg so high before my body say ‘oh, no, you better check yourself missy!’

The problem doesn’t stop there, either. Due to the nerve damaged in my nerves in my lower back, I tend to lean on my right leg more, sending that knee into fits of pain. My cats like to sleep near my knees, keeping constant pressure there.

I don’t like to fall back on taking my Hydrocodone very often. I did take one when I took my night time meds to get to sleep, but, they have worn off and here I sit.

Next month, I restart pool therapy, which I really love. It will be in a difference place than I had gone to before. It sounds amazing from what I have researched on the place. Stationary bike IN the pool, aquarobics, and hat is Monday, Wednesday and Friday. When I feel I have outgrown the training there, I can move into the move advanced, harder workout they hold Tuesday and Thursday. This classes are an hour and a half long.

This place has even combined Zoomba and aquarobics. They say it is very, very strong stuff. And with my disability, I may not be able to perform it.

I am looking forward to just the general pool therapy, and the man-child will be coming with me to help get his knee back in condition since his surgery. In another 6 months, he will be eligible for a partial knee replacement, which his doctor said will indeed happened, because his knee is kaput, but just like me, he has to jump through those insurance loops and hoops.

I was getting spinal injection in my lower spine for my nerve damage pain, but the insurance will only allow so many over the course of 12 months. So my family doctor is helping me manage my pain with the Hydrocodone.

As it is almost 2am, and this is a pretty often occurrence for me, I usually have something to do. Book to read, movie to watch…but tonight, I seem too tired to do any of those. I want to close my eyes and sleep again, but, I know I will be trudging my way down the hallway in another hour again, so why bother.

The cats are playing with their newest toy, so I may let them entertain me. That’s something I never consider as time wasted.

So I will be signing off for now. I suspect I will post again sometime during the daylight hours.

Happy Dreaming ~

Online Shopping

Amazon-Logo

It can become a real addiction. I straddle that line. I absolutely love shopping online, however, I do know where to shop safely. I usually stick to Amazon, Wal-Mart and Book stores. I tend to avoid EBay. I have heard too many horror stories there.

I have grand lovely, very meticulously sorted Lists on Amazon. I know I will end up deleted items along the way as my ‘need’ for them wanes. That’s why I place things in the lists rather than buying them outright.

I do love using Amazons Prime Pantry for non-perishable foods. It’s quick, easy, and I can find most things cheaper than my local stores. And the selections can be better at times, too.

Sometimes I get impulsive on shopping for clothes. It depends on the season and what is on clearance. Full Beauty and Woman Within are my favorites, as I can buy big oversized t-shirts and sweaters, but pants and shorts that fit me well.

Another favorite thing about using my Amazon Prime, is that I can purchase an item as a surprise for someone else, for their birthday or holiday, and have it shipped straight to them, gift wrapped and all. My best friend loves books, so I like giving her gift cards for eBooks. It works for both of us, as she has excellent taste in reading material, and I have one of her old kindles, so I am logged into her account. Reading for both of us! I try not to read the same book she is to not mess up her book mark or anything though. It works out great between us.

Now, I will tell you, for a horror writer, I do not like to sleep without a night light. Funny, I know. However, it’s not for fear of the dark. It’s more to do with me getting up and tripping over cat toys, cats, or painfully ramming my thigh into the corner of my bedside table. I need to see. I recently purchased myself a nightlight that is a silicone cat. They are everywhere, marketed for children’s rooms. It is standard with a soft white light, but if you tap it a few times it changes colors. I thought it was nifty, and hey, it’s a CAT!

Bed sheets and comforters. I love them. I have way too many sets. I still buy them. >.>

I did make an impulsive buy that I will firmly hold my best friend accountable for. I bought a color changing Jellyfish aquarium. Yes, they are silicone Jellyfish, but I have seen these things for myself, and move very life like. I had to have it. I didn’t need it though. I will feel guilty once it arrives, struggle with whether I should return it or not, and then make peace with myself and love it.

As for office supplies. Let’s just say that when I die, I leave a legacy of office supplies that will carry my grandkids and great grandkids though school, college and work for a good while.

And speaking of office things…I have an addiction to external hard drives. I don’t know why. I have 3 of them now. Who really needs 3 external drives? I haven’t even put anything on one of them.

Shopping, shopping, and shopping. It’s fun, but so deadly…lol.

My cats have more toys than needed, however, they do play with everything they have. Each has their own particular playthings. Some like the sparkly balls, some like the noisy toys, and some like the little fake mice. They ALL love the cardboard scratchers. And what a mess those things make >.<  .

Candles…if you ever want to send me a gift, just ask for my favorite scents. Really, I actually use the little wax melts in my electric burners more. Swan Creek Candle Co. is one of those things I found at a gift shop in a gas station on a road trip. I bought two different scent packs. They were awesome and potent, longer lasting than the stuff they sale at Wal-Mart. So I found them on the internet and now order directly from them. I try every scent they have, making note of my favorites. Thus far, there are only three I don’t care for. And now that they have their fall/winter seasons out, I put in my order for those. I would say I order once every 4-6 months from them. I even got my best friend hooked on them.

Well, that’s a peek into my shopping addictions and loves. Oh, and faults.

Do you have a favorite quirky shopping flair? Anything you HAVE to have on a regular basis? Chime in…it may start me on a new obsession.

Be sweet, my darlings!
